my3stars 88 Posted August 7, 2012 I am having my revision on 8/20, I cannot get my boyfriend to stop saying that he does not want anything to happen to me. I have tried explaining that I already have been through this, that I know what to expect that I am physically in the best health I have ever been but nothing can make him feel better. I know he is just concerned but he is just making me more anxious & driving me nuts in the process! Any advice welcomed!
working4shoes 55 Posted August 7, 2012 Will it help to have him go to see the surgeon with you? Maybe if he hears it from the DR he will be put more at ease.
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted August 7, 2012 His concern is understandable and I'm sure much appreciated. It might help if you point out to him that the very reason you're having the surgery is so that nothing happens to you. Ignoring obesity is a formula for disaster. Isn't it better to do something about it now when you're in perfect health than to wait until there really is no good option? You're on a life changing journey and you and your boyfriend are gonna love the new you!!

I do not know about that bcuz my dr is very upfront and that might freak him out even more, Lol! I was going to take him with me to the pre op seminar the date got changed he couldn't go. After all I am glad he did not bcuz they talked about being intubated, the drain etc.,. He probably would have fainted!

music1618 879 Posted August 8, 2012 My hubby was very scared about the surgery. He supported me 100%, but was so nervous. The night before my surgery he said he did not sleep at all. I had my parents calm him down during the surgery. I had to finally tell him he wa increasing my anxiety about everything and needed him to calm down. Just be open and honest with him. Talking things out is the best way! 1 Ellie_Grace reacted to this
