The only reason you leave a certain length of time between eating and drinking is because Fluid fills your pouch and prevents you from eating you recommended amount of food, it's really important to get as much goodness out of food as possible. And as for food I had my surgery on the 15th October and I have been told to start introducing soft foods after 6 weeks. Every surgeon is different, and from my understanding each approach gets slightly different results, but that is just my opinion :-p

I had salmon last night...with cucumber salad (vinegar dressing) no starch. I ate about 4 oz of salmon, it was very rare, which is easier to process, not dry at all. Cooked lightly in olive oil and lemon juice, with lemon pepper seasoning. Turned out great, and cooked 8 oz, so have some left for a salmon salad, (kinda like tuna salad, with fat free mayo, celery, onion, etc .)

I love mashed potatoes, but they fill me up too fast and stay in the pouch too long. I try to get my carbs from fruit and veggies.

I made some salmon' date=' mashed potatoes and French style green Beans tonight. The salmon has lemon, pepper And a touch of brown sugar ( super small amt). It was great and I spent 3 hour or so eatting it! Man was just a little filling![/quote']

Looks delicious!

My surgeon said potatoes are a great option but no rice or other starchy foods though. And I said I ate it over almost 3 meal periods silly that's 3 hours :).

I can't get it 6 times a day so I shoot for 4. 30 lbs down and counting :)

I move on to Cheerios and the like next week. Just softer foods.

It's funny how each surgeon and dietician are different lol.

I agree, they are all soooo different!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
