lorid 13 Posted August 5, 2012 Each surgeon is different. And it also depends on you and what you can tolerate. Those potatoes look soooooo good!!
dstollery 290 Posted August 5, 2012 Omg it would take me all day to eat that! Haven't been brave enough for mashed potatoes or anything starchy yet. Can you tolerate them well? Looks super yummy! Mr pouchy loves them. No diarrhea or dumping yet. I'm fact Bms normal formed. It is a little weird hearing how other people's surgeons say no to have some of this stuff and I wonder if mine is having me do something I shouldn't . I just want to be successful and make this work but get scared when I see people surprised at what I eatting. I have a post op apt on the 10th and will bring up some of these concerns and see what's said. I know that every pouch and every surgeon is different. For instance week 5 I am supposed to be eatting more Fiber rich cereals, oatmeal and pretty normal diet to include deli meats and from the sounds of it others may be waiting forever to get into some of that. I guess thru my research it's exactly what Lori posted, as long as its low fat, no sugar and low calorie and I tolerate it well then it is a sustainable eatting habit for long term weight loss and maintenance. I hope the rest of you are doing well!!

I have also found purée ring makes it seem like I'm eating more...it's odd lol
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted August 5, 2012 DS - my surgeon and nutritionist allow mashed potatoes but, only if I'm meeting my Protein goal of 60-70 grams per day. My surgeon up'd my Protein from 50-60 to 60-70 to help aid in healing up this wound site of mine. I'm having a hard time getting in all the protein because the shakes are starting to turn my stomach or I should said I just can't drink more than one a day without feeling like gacking. It's a head game on that, that I know but, I do manage to get at least one 25 grams of Protein shake in a day. Anyway, I do agree though that it's really odd how each bariatric center/surgeon/nutritionist have different rules to follow and different lengths of time for each stage. Seriously try the optimum gold double chocolate! Or the Mocha Cappuccino they are amazing! Just a different option . I freeze em so they are like a slushy omg almost like a route 44 cherry lime aid of hell sugar goodness from sonic... /back I say demon! Lol sorry had a moment omg I miss those things. Anyway good luck on the protein thanks for posting this I was feeling very out there Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone. 1 cooksie reacted to this

The problem is when we do not follow their protocol. I personally enjoyed your picture as the foodie that I am and am glad you posted it & enjoyed it! I highly doubt if your surgeon is capable of doing your RNY that he would stear you in the wrong direction! My surgeon will have me on clear for the day after surgery then full liquid for two weeks then pureed for two more then regular. Every surgeons/center is different do not second guess yourself, as long as you are following your doctors orders you will do great, just look at how much you have lost so far! Keep up the great work!

JustJenn 542 Posted August 5, 2012 You are a day ahead of me (7/25/12) we are on the same food deal, except I can't eat veggies. I can do all fish, all cheese (except cream cheese) cottage cheese, mash potato, plain yogurt, cream of wheat... Ect. My fav right now is 1oz mash pot. With melted cheese and 1 oz Greek yogurt delish! But I'm tolerating everything ok. I'm having a hard time getting 2 Protein Shakes in so I'm doing 1 @35 gms. lorid 13 Posted August 5, 2012 It's funny the nutritionist I see we cant have Cereal with milk kinda defeats the purpose of waiting an hour to drink. I just had some scallops with evoo went down great. So far everything I've eaten has agreed with me however I don't get the full sensation but I dont push it either. Off to the gym in an hour. It's interesting but I should ask about the milk thing. What, am I supposed to just eat dry cereal. I will ask on Friday. Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone. Christopher 12 Posted August 5, 2012 I'll be three weeks out tomorrow. The third day out from surgery I was able to eat scrambled eggs, yogurt, mashed potatoes with gravy and cottage cheese or fish with the only restriction of eating or chewing everything to an applesauce consistency. My pouch seems to tolerate everything so far really good. It's not talking back to me yet, but I'm not pushing it either. Sounds like my doctor/ nutritionist are awesome because I never had to go on any kind of puréed diet post surgery. I get to start eating a few more new items tomorrow since I'll be three weeks out- like grilled chicken, meatloaf(ground chicken or turkey really moist), shrimp, pretzels, crackers, Peanut Butter, baked light chips, corn tortilla, whole wheat toast (toasted well), thin sliced deli ham, cinnamon, pepper, and garlic. I can't wait to start adding a few new little things because things are getting a little bit repetitive.
jenneliza 257 Posted August 6, 2012 Where do you get that optimum gold powder? I made a proper Sunday dinner (we all then farm dinners) of roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and veggies tonight. Had some potatoes and they were great! Was so happy they didn't cause dumping!
