I really feel like I'm up sh** creek! I'm having a hard time drinking my Protein Shake. I am getting in 1/2 to 3/4 a day. (10 to 15 gram) Protein, but my stomach stay so full. In scared to death to eat chicken, I eat crab legs everyday, and I have not been successful with eggs. Salmon goes down well but sometimes I can't tolerate it. Any ideas!!!

Have you tried thin shaved turkey meat? Or eating canned chicken with some light mayo? I eat baked chicken thighs with gravy. Pretty good. I try to eat moist foods. They seem to do well. Hope this helps a little

I'm in the same boat. Just can't get the shakes down like I used to. Can't stand Isopure either. I eat a few baby spoons and then so full. Too full to even get my Water in. I'm thinking about going back to full liquids for a few days and just forgetting about food.< /p>

Jenn, I was thinking that today. And mind you I just got on soft foods. But I eat and I feel like I can't get anything down. And Protein makes me SO nauseous. I really hope this gets better.

I got some nectar Fuzzy Navel. I'm going to have that for at least one meal -I'm thinking lunch to space out the solids and it's actually good! It's thin and goes down pretty easy. The guy at The Vitamin Shoppe told me that if you buy there and don't like the flavor you can return it which is good since it's so expensive. I know it's not food but at least it will help with the protein/hydration!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
