Banded 11/22/06 - Lost so far 23 lbs

Recommended Posts

I have only received one fill and I don't feel any restriction. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and set up an appointment to get a second fill. I can eat whatever I want as long as I chew it well, which has included a lot of fast food.

I wan to do this so badly, but I am not following the program.

I started at 263 and I am 5'5.

I need advice and a reality check.

I don't want you to take this the wrong way, because I really mean well. That said, if you don't start eating right, no fill in the world will help you. You can always find a way to cheat the band.

You could try positive reinforcement to keep yourself away from the fast food. Whenever you get a craving for fast food, put the money you would have spent on it into a jar. Eventually, you will have a lot of money saved up and you can do something fun, like take a trip or go on a shopping spree for new outfits that fit the slimmer you.

I am no expert but it sounds like you need another fill.

Your weight loss so far is fab so you must be doing something right!

23 lbs is really good in such a short amount of time. You are doing really well. I would definitely go in for another fill. You should only be able to eat up to 1 cup of food. Try and stay away from the fast food. Its a real killer. Good luck.

Hi, I was banded 9.22.06 and have lost 23lbs also. I have had 4 fills and am up to 3ccs. I also can eat about anything I want if I chew it well. I feel like I should be losing at a better rate. I lost my 23lbs. in the first 2 months, then nothing until last week when I lost 2lbs. I know lapband is slower than by-pass, but I have started to get discouraged. One problem I have, is not excersizing. I don't know why I fight it when I know it would help. Anyway, I am glad I'm not the only one that is a slow loser. I guess we just have to keep plugging away and know this is better than gaining!!! Good luck.

Judy

I was banded on 11-21 and I have lost 39 pounds since. It is a little slower than I would like.....wouldn't we all like to lose 10 lbs a day???? I already had one fill and have an appointment for my second fill on Tuesday. I find that I can eat more than I could when I was first banded....I keep telling myself that it took my whole lifetime to get to be overweight so whats a year to lose it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
