Had my appt last week and it went really well. The only thing that freaked me out was when he found out I've had 2 c-sections, he said they need a Plan B in case they get in there and can't get to my intestines due to scar tissue. In that situation they would do the sleeve. When he looked at my stomach he was glad to see how low the scars were and said it won't be an issue but they he always likes to tell the patient just in case that happens. Anyone else have a plan b? I don't want the sleeve, I want bypass dammit!

When I had my RNY, I told them I had 2 csections and I was never told of a plan b. I was only told if they could not do it laprascopically they would convert to open.

I definitely had a plan B as well. I had my gall bladder out many years ago. The plan was to do it laparoscopically but when the surgeon got in there, he found there was too much scar tissue from an appendectomy when I was a kid. He had to do the open procedure to remove the gall bladder. I advised my RNY surgeon of that and she said the same thing your doctor did, she felt that she would probably be able to do it laparoscopically but in the event that was impossible, she would do the sleeve. I made it clear that I wanted the RNY if at all possible but if not, go ahead and do the sleeve. Fortunately, she was able to do the RNY without any problems. My surgeon told me that in the hundreds of surgeries that she's done, she had only one case where she could not do it laparoscopically so I'm betting it won't be a problem for you!!

I had 2 c sections and three other abdominal surgeries. My plan b was to do an open bypass. He said there were lots of scarring and surgery took an hour longer than expected but he got it done lap so don't give up hope! And a sleeve is better than nothing even if it's plan b.
