speedydvr 25 Posted August 1, 2012 I I just had RnY on Monday 7/30, and everything went great for the most part. I'm up walking around, sipping my Clear Liquids but the hiccups, burps and general soreness, is driving me crazy. I'm hoping that clears up soon but what is of concern is my constant exhaustion. ~Christi~ 54 Posted August 1, 2012 You just had surgery 3 days ago, this is normal. You will be for the fist 1-2 weeks depending how long it takes your body to get the anesthesia out of your system. Rest while you can now in between your walking. It will go away. Congrats btw!!

I haven't had my surgery yet (Aug 15th!!!!) But from what I heard the severe drop in calories is what is so exhausting. Make sure you are drinking your Protein shakes. They will be your best friend. Good luck!!!

LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm starting my 4th week post op. The first few weeks you're taking pain meds, and healing so it's natural for your body to want to rest. Takes it's cue.....take the naps and rest. Then while you're awake walk, walk, walk so the gas used leaves your system. Hiccups can be a sign that you're taking things in too fast...smaller sips should help. I still get them occassionally myself. Congrats and welcome to the losing side. speedydvr 25 Posted August 2, 2012 I figured the anesthesia has all but left my system at this point. I was on a Diludid PCA pump the day of surgery which became my best friend, however I pretty much only used it for the first day. That being said, I received IV tylenol during my stay and the most that I'm using now at home is children's tylenol drops for discomfort. I can't seem to shake the exhausted feeling and constant dragging I feel, walking helps some but I get so tired all I want to do is sleep, figured this is due to the near zero caloric intake. But what is slightly worrisome is this feeling of being febrile. I know I'm not, at least thats what the thermometer tells me but I have all the physical sensations of having a fever. I've got the the hydration aspect down and figured if I drink the Protein waters at the same time that should kill 2 birds with one stone right?
Momma8178 1 Posted August 2, 2012 I had laparoscopic roux on Monday as well! Just tried a Calcium supplement, I feel like I've eaten a HUGE meal. Drinking Water but not got any Protein down yet.
Marezy 3 Posted August 5, 2012 You need potassium so you won't dehydrate and take your Bariatric Vitamins Plus Your Protein Shake approx 70 grams a day we are told. To those that can't stomach the shakes :-( always get the strongest chocolate one and use a Blender/Mixer/Ninga delicious.. Don't forget whey Protein Isolate (no other) Good Luck...Mare :-)

Im not that tired, but then Im. not sleeping that well at night.[/quote'] I use iso-pure... It's a flavored water that comes in 20oz bottles that also has 40g of protien so what I do is since for week 1 protien isn't a big concern as hydration I pour the Isopure into a big 48 oz bottle and dilute it with Water to reach the top. Then I add Decaf coffe or tea through the day plus I also do shaved ice with sugar free syrup...it's not hard to do, just listen to your body I'm learning to become my new mantra
