Hello I am from the Texas area and I used Dr Benevidas and he was wonderful and they are so helpful at AIGB. They have made this whole experince wonderful. If you need phone numbers or anything just let me know.

I went to Dr. Benavides's free seminar on the band and came away impressed, he really does give you the impression that he does want to help.

I'm not banded as of yet but i've signed up to get the process started with him and his team.

Good luck on whomever you choose! :D

Hi all....I am looking into lap-band surgery with Dr. Castro at Dallas Methodist. Has anyone heard anything about him? I know he came from El Paso and is new at Methodist. I have to go to Methodist d/t my insurance so I don't have much choice.

Laureli.......you might go to Obestiyhelp.com and go to the Texas forum or the Sugeon List and check to see if there are any customer reviews there.

I used Dr. Cribbins. Had a great experience and did several of my co-workers. I have a link on my website to his office.

I used Cribbins. It is funny how different they are. Dr Hamm did one of my fills. Dr Cribbins is the super nice, tender touch kind of doctor and Dr Hamm is as you've described him. They are great - both of them

I have my first appt with Dr. Cribbins on Monday, he does a seminar and consult at the same time? How long did it take until he scheduled surgery OUSOONER?

Yes at the same time. He holds the seminar in the waiting room, then calls patients back one at a time for the consult. I had my surgery 5 week after the consult. I would suggest getting there early. They call back in order of when you came in. Good luck, hope you like him. I sure did. Keep us updated. Thanks.

OUSOONER

My appt is at 9am so I plan on being there around 830. Was the hold up on your ins or is he just that busy? I looked at his pt reviews on obesityhelp.. seems the major issue was no after care- what was/is your experience?

missy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
