Are Men As A Rule A$@es Or Are They Just Stupid?

Recommended Posts

My husband is driving me crazy. He knows what I'm going through, he's been to all my appointments. He has read all my diet information. I have had nothing of any nutritional value for 2 weeks. Even if my stomach isn't physically hungry, my body is starving. All my husband talks about is food. We're on the phone talking about registering our kids for school and he pops in "ooh, can it wait, I'm gonna make me some eggs.... And some cheese toast that looks good." I've asked him several times to stop but he just says "i love you" and blows me off. I literally walked to my moms house. She's had a bypass & understands the need to not have food thrown in my face every time I turn around.

I can relate. I was on liquids on July 4th.... My husband said to me. "want a rib". Thinking he was being funny.... I'm sorry, that isn't funny to me. I used to love food Network but found it hard to watch these days. I've become a house hunters international junkie now! Lol

Hang in there! You might have to just say to him, look, it's hurtful when you do this.

But to answer your question.... Men are both, asses and stupid!! Lol ;)

I'm in the clear liquid stage and all I watch is food Network. Doesn't really make me upset... In a sense it's almost fulfilling my cravings. Now my wife and kids made popcorn and I almost cried...

The answer to your question is YES !!!!! I'm was lucky where I did not have to be on any diet before surgery. The only time my BF talked about food was when I was doing the colonoscopy prep. I was running to the bathroom every 5 seconds and was hungry as heck and could not eat. He was hungry too and kept on saying all the foods he wanted.. I just kept on saying "shut up" PLEASE !!!!! Men arrrghhhh !!!!

My husband has this annoying habit lately of saying "You know, you won't be able to have that (whatever I'm eating at the time) after surgery". It's like why does he say that!?! I know I won't be able to have it anymore, why does he have to mention it? I guess he doesn't say it to be mean, he just isn't thinking before he speaks.

Man thank god my husband and I are going to have to do the same. He too is going to get the bypass. The only difference is I'm on a 3 week liquid only diet and he will be on a 2 week liquid, unlimited fruit and veggies. Sh!t thats a big difference now that I think about it. lol I'm on day 6, and damn proud of myself :)

My boyfriend, or well ex boyfriend did the same thing, we broke up on Friday after a long fight about him being immature and irresponsible and not being there for me and not being supportive.

Men suck!

I think for me I went into this realizing that truly it's only ME that has to change how I'm eating. It's my journey not my husband's and not my son's. I knew they'd bring stuff into the house that I couldn't eat. Heck after surgery it takes quite a few weeks/months before we can have a full "healthy" menu. I sure do miss crunchy stuff because they were my downfall...and right now...I'm with Wps2, popcorn is a tough one. I love popcorn, must plain popcorn. It's healthy but, it's a no go for me right now and I know it. So when it's being eaten in the house it's difficult and man you can hear every single crunch and I swear the crunch noise is louder. LOL But...I have to remind myself that I chose this path my guys didn't. I guess it does help though that they are also very caring in that, they will ask me if there is something they can do for me or get me often and they make sure I'm ok. They don't think twice about having their popcorn, take out food etc but, they do need to eat. Again I just remind myself that I chose this and I'm doing this for me.....it will benefit them in the long run but, still this choice was for me and my own benefit first. Keep that in mind the next time your spouse or family is eating something you can't. Believe me it's hard certain days...especially if after the popcorn, some other snack is then picked up. Then I start thinking...My God...I used to do that and no wonder why I gained weight and then I'm proud of myself for taking this step. AS much as I'd like them eating healthier too, THEY lift the food to their mouths not me. I don't bring the stuff in so it's their choice. I love em anyway. :) Continue with your own journey, don't let the comments get to you...let it roll because when it's no longer funny to them, its not worth saying. Easier said then done sometimes I know....but you can do it. :) Half this losing weight battle is putting things in perspective for yourself and keeping positive. Let em have the ribs, popcorn, candy.....while you lose weight and get healthy, happy and more fit :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
