JustSassy 1 Posted July 30, 2012 Newbie here looking for strength and friends. I'm nearing the end of my three-month supervised diet and am hoping to have surgery in September. Sounds crazy, but I am excited and scared at the same time. So many people I have spoken with who have had RNY have said that they hated themselves before their surgery and weight loss. Being a RuPaul fan, I truly believe his saying: "if you can't love yourself, how the h*** you gonna love somebody else?" With that being said, I have never hated myself, no matter what size I was/am. Did I dislike the way I looked and felt ... Oh, heck yeah! Did I hate the people who gave me the "you would be beautiful if you just lost some weight" malarkey? You bet I did! But, after three years of ruminating over this decision and putting it off twice, I am going for it! Bottom line, I would love to learn from you all. You are wearing the "been there, done that" shirt and I admire those who share their path to success with others. Thanks all ... And continued good luck on your journey! ChatCat 24 Posted July 30, 2012 Welcome Jen! This is a crazy ride and you will continue to feel a wide array of emotions as you walk this path. If I can be of any help to you, please dont hesitate to contact me on here. I check in here just about every day. Best of luck to you. With your attitude, you wont need a lot of help! Loving yourself is the biggest hurdle to jump in my opinion and since you already love yourself the rest is going to be easy!
