lovealways 287 Posted July 29, 2012 Whts the scoop on drinking with having the surgery??you tube has some horrible results.need all info. I plan on not drinking ever again after the surgery because there is such a high rate of alcohol abuse in RnY patients. Alcohol is absorbed differently after the surgery. You get drunk quicker with a small amount and sober up quicker. Many patients find this enjoyable, and keep repeating the process. I mean, I could see myself having a small amt if wine on a special event like my wedding day lol, but I expect to avoid alcohol at all costs.

Tep104 3 Posted July 29, 2012 Yeah, I think avoiding it is probably the way to go. I thought about this topic myself. I really enjoy having a couple of ice cold beers while cooking on the grill or after mowing the grass, but it's not more important to me than having this surgery, losing the weight and getting healthy! Kellyk2511 282 Posted July 30, 2012 I'm planning on quitting drinking. I've heard so many people that have swapped their food addiction to something else and sadly I can see myself being one of those people so I decided to just not drink.
jenneliza 257 Posted July 30, 2012 I agree with all the others about addiction swapping. Also there is a very increased risk of getting ulcers and that just sounds painful!

lovealways 287 Posted July 31, 2012 How about smoking any one smoke after surgery I wouldn't do it. Your having a major, major surgery that's being done. We only get one body in this lifetime. Why put ourselves at risk for future complications? It's tempting, yes, but we can do it
bellepink77 44 Posted July 31, 2012 How about smoking any one smoke after surgery I never quit smoking. Bad I know. I'm just being honest. I plan on quitting, I guess I'm just not ready. I know all of the health risks. It helps me get thru not being able to eat. And it helps my stress levels. I don't drink or do drugs. Prior to surgery I only had 2 vices eating and smoking. I'm down to one vice now. I promised myself I'd quit on my 35th birthday (November 3rd) 1 jadeharper reacted to this
