phlyinphebee 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I went to Walmart today to get a few things. I can say that now one can of Soup that used to be a meal and now it is 3:) . Also not buying junk food sure is cheaper. It is so new to me to have left overs in the fridge. I have already learned when to stop eating.:hungry: I cannot image what it is going to be like when I get a fill. Rene' Down 13 lbs!!!!!!!!!!:clap2:
Ambrosia 1 Posted January 30, 2007 I figured up approximately what I spend on junk food each month and after I picked myself up off the floor, I decided that I will use that exact amount each month toward paying off the band. The way I figure it, this band will pay for itself in no time! Of course, I do want to set some money aside for a new wardrobe. Sharon
edieparks 2 Posted January 30, 2007 I consider myself a "cheap date" for my husband now. edie
Boo 3 Posted January 30, 2007 "I consider myself a "cheap date" for my husband now." edie Hahaha! That is funny, but true! It is amazing how much money is saved. I never really want to eat out. Yogurt is a meal. How cool is that?
Jachut 487 Posted January 30, 2007 Funny, I havent noticed much difference! I think I eat better food, less cheap stuff like rice and Pasta and less meat at a time, but meat for more meals than I used to. I never used to eat lunch, just pick all day but now I eat a meal at lunchtime. And the kids are all a year older, my 11 year old is now 5ft 8 and about 55 kilos, so he's getting BIG with the appetite to match.
mariecarmen 1 Posted January 30, 2007 Funny, I was just telling a friend about this. My grocery bill has gone down from over $100/week to less than $50. While I used to shop for 2 adults with bad eating habits, I now shop for one and a third with better habits (I'm the third). I still buy my husband Cookies and ice cream sandwiches. A bigger savings is in the cost of eating out. We do a lot less of it and when we do, I can make at least 2 more meals of my doggie bag.
phlyinphebee 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I haven't gone out to eat yet but I can just see myself bringing home a doggie bag. There is no way that I would be able to eat it all like before. I can say that I will not be doing anymore buffets. That would so be a waste of money. Rene' Banded 1-19-07 Dr Wade Barker--Dallas TX
laura-loo 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I haven't noticed a big change in my food shopping bill but the amount I save not eating out all the time or buying takeaways is unbelievable! Laura x
DrewsLou 3 Posted January 30, 2007 I don't spend less.... about the same as before banding. The difference now is buying healthier (and more expensive) foods. Organic food and natural meats aren't cheap!
Marimaru 7 Posted January 30, 2007 I don't spend less either, but instead of buying tons of frozen meals, and microwave crap, I'm buying meat, and veggies n' stuff like that.
Ambrosia 1 Posted January 31, 2007 Marimaru, I haven't seen alot on these boards about vegetables. I know you are supposed to eat Protein first then your vegetables. Have you experienced any discomfort with vegetables? Are they harder to digest or cause Constipation? Do certain vegetables go down better than others? Just curious since I'm not a huge veggie eater but I am going to force myself to eat them. Thanks, Sharon
Hedwig 0 Posted January 31, 2007 I am without a doubt cheaper as far as going out to eat goes. With grocerys about the same. I replaced my junk food with healthy food. Sometimes all the fresh fruit and veggies costs me a bit more than a bag of chips. Plus the Snacks I may eat like rice cakes or nuts cost me a bit more than a bag of chips. Hey I am happy and feeling healthier so I am fine with paying the same.
SherryW 4 Posted January 31, 2007 Oh DH is always saying how I'm a cheap date now lol. Part of an appetizer does me in. Plus if I do order a meal he ends up with the rest for lunch the next day lol
Eficka 0 Posted January 31, 2007 Oh yeah I save a bit too, but I replaced the Cookies and sweets (expensive here) with salmon, good meat and other healthy stuff which adds up 2/3 of what I used to spend before...now Im addicted to cosmetics isles:-)
