Hair Loss - When To Expect It.

Recommended Posts

I am 13 wks post op and terrified of losing my hair. I was told by my doctor if you keep up with your Protein and supplements you will not lose your hair. I take minimum of 80 grms. of protein, multiple vitiman, Iron, botin, B12, tons of Calcium. Has anyone lost hair if so when did it start and did you maintain your protien and still loose?

For me it began at 3 months and stopped between 6 and 9, definetly noticable in the tub but not really to anyone else, i was told Biotin was good and have taken it everyday and i swear by it.

Losing my hairs worries me too. I have started taking Biotin to help. I really hope it does.

Someone told me to use a pet Shampoo called Tame and Tail and to take Biotin. My dr agreed with the biotin' date=' laughed about the shampoo, and also said keep up the Protein and supplements. hair health starts on the inside.[/quote']

The shampoo is Mane and Tail and it is also sold in regular beauty supply places. It has been used by humans for years.

It's called mane and tail. I use it, it won't keep you from losing your hair, it just makes your hair insanely soft and pretty. It's not just pet shampoo, it says on the bottle that its for humans but works well on animals also.

Taking prenatal Vitamins instead of a Multivitamin will help combat hair loss. I figure they work just as well since they are designed to sustain your body while you are creating another human. Just a thought :)

I am taking Biotin and silica and my hair stylist suggested Mane and Tail as well, but I was also told to take Nioxin which is meant for thinning hair. I mentioned it to my hair stylist and she was like yes, that works well, just a bit pricey. So I ordered a starter pack and see what I think about it, the pack was 26$. What is a good hair and nail supplement? (besides those I mentioned above)

I take GNC hair and nails. I only wash my hair 2x a week with nioxin. I'm a hair stylist and I go to my beauty school and get scalp treatments (scalp massages) every two weeks. Its only $5

So you heard that nioxin is helpful too?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
