Eating At Family Events..?

Okay so today was my Great uncles Funeral and afterward they served the food. Now in my family and our culture it's kinda disrespectful to not eat. My only issue was it wasn't ANYTHING there that was remotely healthy and what I like to call "Bypass friendly" lol I'm still pre opt and was tempted/forced into eating the delicious Sin! I Ate really small portions and tried to eat slow as if I already had it. How can i maintain a healthy diet at family events or do I not eat even if%
