How much hair did you lose? Did you cut you hair? Before surgery or when it started thinning?

My hair is super long and pretty thick, I'm kinda worried how bad it's going to be.

Mine is really long and really thick as well. I am just now 13 weeks out from surgery and I just had to have 8 inches cut off my hair. The problem I think is that it is not getting enough nutrients (I even take 1000mcg of sublingual Biotin 3x per day) to get the hair what it needs. I would not cut it off just yet. Just see how your hair handles the surgery. You will be able to tell. Mine is starting to thin, my beautician told me there are some noticeable balding areas on my head. She recommended DS Labratories Shampoo and a good conditioner. There is nothing that will stop the loss of hair, but you can promote the growing process which is what the DS Labratories does. Someone else suggested Nioxin but this only makes your hair seem thicker and does not promote any growth. Just some things that I have researched and gotten suggestions on. I have taken all my Vitamins and get more than enough of my Protein, so I am sure it is a hormone thing. It seems to happen around the same time for everyone 3-4months. Good luck and I hope this helps. Be sure to start your biotin early. This may help, but I can't promise anything.

I started losing my hair around the 4th month. I will tell you that it was a major freak out moment when I noticed so much hair just falling out... I was afraid to brush my hair. Put my big girl panties on and Up'd the Protein started taking Biotin and washing my hair with a biotin based Shampoo. Took about a month and now not so noticeable that the hair is falling out. So I am hoping I nipped it in the bud.

What shampoo are you using? I'm almost 6 months out and my hair started falling out at 4 months. Seems to only be getting worse. I take an average of 80-100 gms of Protein daily, I also take biotin since immediately after surgery, and a silica complex. I'm so worried the Hair loss is not gonna get better :(

I started using that garnier fall fight.. It's new and I've been using it about 3 weeks. I also take my Biotin in the morning and before I go to bed. My nails were also getting paper thin and chipping and they are doing better now too

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
