how long was your hospital stay?

Recommended Posts

Many of us didn't stay at all. Some people stay overnight, depending on things like insurance requirements or medical conditions.

I was at the surgery center at noon, home in my own bed by 6:30 that night.

My insurance required me to stay over night. I was happy to though. I have a 2 year old and it is hard being at home with him and trying to take it easy. He just does not understand when mommy isnt feeling good. Arent moms supposed to never get sick or down?

I had my surgery at 9:00 a.m. thinking I would be home by 3:00, I had to stay in the hospital for three days. I had to go back into surgery the next day, there was a piece of fat blocking the band.

I had my band done in Dallas. The package deal I did included a night before room and night of surgery room. They did discharge me after my procedure on that Friday but I got to stay that night as a guest. I did that for the just incase there was any problem. I am glad that I did that. I think that the 4.5 car ride home would have been a little harder.

Mine was an overnight visit but now my surgeon does them in outpatient. Recovery time for me was 6 days before I went back to work.

Insurance requires overnight......was there at 5:45, surgery was at 7:45, saw the clock in the recovery room at 8:50, in room at 9:00. Barium swallow next morning at 9:00 and then home! I felt good enough to go home at 9:00 right after my surgery but it was nice to stay and sleep off the anesthetic....3 kids at home would of made that hard!

I checked in on a Tuesday morning and went back to my hotel around 11 on Wednesday morning. I had my surgery at Hospital San Jose in Monterrey Mexico with Dr. Rumbaut. They wanted to make sure that I was able to keep liquids down the next day and that I responded well to the band.

I am glad I stayed because even though my recovery was easy there was another lady that had surgery the same day that had a horrible time. She had some fever, pain and vomiting. They kept her an extra day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
