Pureed Recipe Sharing And Protein Shake Hacks

Recommended Posts

I compiled a list of Protein Shake hacks to doctor up Protein powder. Most are for vanilla since that is so versatile.

Also are puree recipes and some high protein recipes for puree/soft/regular food phases.

I've tried some of these before surgery and can tell you that the fake cheesecake, buffalo dip, and egg salad are wonderful!

DLCoggin also has the file to complement his data base of restaurant foods and grocery store items.

There has been lots of talk on the boards about puree lately so thought I would go ahead and share.

Enjoy!

These were really just eyeballed measurements. So you might want to tweak it to your preference.

1 egg

16 oz can crab meat

3 tbsp light mayo

2 tbsp either old bay (by far the best!) or phillips seasoning

1-2 tbsp parsley depending on your preference

two twists each of salt and pepper or to taste

1-2 tbsp lemon juice

Optional 1 tsp dry mustard

Combine all ingredients. If in puree phase this can be mixed in the food processor which means you can save money by buying the backfin or claw meat. There is no point pureeing lump!

Use ice cream scoop to make 1/4 cup servings. I like to sprinkle old bay on top. Will make 8 servings. Broil about 8 minutes or until done.

I made them in foil muffin cups so they can be individually frozen and pulled out for quick work lunches.

Great with a little yellow mustard on the side!

Here is a picture of the nutritional info.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
