Recommended Posts

Just rolled around in tears for the last 35 minutes with sharp pressure from Just below my sternum to my left upper quadrant , it feels gassy but I tried walking some more with no relief. What worked for you?

Hi! How far out are you? I've had that pain twice and t was due to swallowing some air and drinking too fast. The first time i walked it out... The second time i was at an event and could not do much. It liteally felt like an air bubble bursting and the pain was gone.. After 40 mins....

Drs told me it was dumping syndrome but I'm pretty sure it wasnt.... Its gas!

I am post op 2 weeks and experienced similar pain around post op days 3&4. Very intense, left side more towards the back and nothing really seemed to help. It will pass, my subsided after 2 days. No explanation for what it could be except I had a drain on my left and it was thought maybe it irritated a nerve.

To help a bit. Hang in there, it's gonna be better tomorrow.

I thought my pain was abnormally high and something must be wrong. This was my 6th abdominal surgery so figured I knew what to expect. But I had 50mcg fentanyl in my pca and it wasn't doing much. Switching to oral pain meds really helped (oxycodone). The gas pain is wicked and took about a week to fully go away but it really does get better every day. Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
