elvislover 14 Posted July 25, 2012 K, I was told by the dr to wait for 2 weeks to remove my dressings. Today is 2 weeks and I'm scared to death to take them off. I did one but left the tape on it. I feel safe with them on. I know they have to air out. Any suggestions??? Will they open while I'm asleep???
americas_suiteheart 53 Posted July 25, 2012 I took mine off 3 days after surgery (my mom) and it didn't hurt too bad. Now I have steri-strips and clean over them with peroxide ! I refuse to wear anything tight ! Lol I WANT THEM TO BREATHE !
Winter84 35 Posted July 25, 2012 My doctor took my dressing off after a week, however I still wear my band for the support. It helps a lot.
Jen in SoCal 189 Posted July 26, 2012 They usually tell you to let steri strips (tape) fall off on their own. Like Americas_suiteheart said, just clean around them.
elvislover 14 Posted July 26, 2012 Ok. I took them off. The steri strips came off right along with them. Everything looks nice and sealed, which was my fear, lol. Thanks for the responses!!! Phew...glad that's over with!

Wps2 57 Posted July 27, 2012 My Doc did staples, they had regular band-aids on it. I called the office and they said it was ok to shower and take off the band-aids.
Nicki Leilani 12 Posted July 27, 2012 Mines did not use staples but have to change dressing everyday but they look good after 10 days.
