Once We're Able To Eat Reg...heres A Protein Filled Breakfast!

Recommended Posts

I am 5 months out and can eat a slice of pizza without any trouble. i normally get meat lovers for the protein...but I've tried others. I don't do it very often but its nice to feel a little normal and have a slice with friends every once in awhile.

Hi Jackie

What week did you test bread out. I love pizza but the bread cares me. I am on my fifth week

You and me both. I know that it's not something healthy or anything that we should be indulging in but I'm pretty sure that if we have a slice once in a blue it wouldn't kill us. I live in NYC so like every block or so has a pizzeria. Lol. No fun.[/quote']

Dee, I was told after six weeks post op, I can have thin crust pizza, with healthy toppings.

I think we all try way too soon. I wasn't able to tolerate it until the end of my 3rd month. Just make sure to do small bites and chew really good.

I'm going to be 3 months. Had only 1 slice of papa John pizza the slice is tiny not like regular pizza places like 2 weeks ago since I was leaving the beach with my family. Now sometimes I eat half frozen Celeste pizza for lunch. I don't eat much. Taking my self out to UNO for steak tips & mash potato when I hit 6 months.

@jackie I know we do. My body luvs fresh fruit and nuts salad turkey chilli. I try new stuff every week sometimes it's good and sometimes it bad because of the up chuck part. I love mash potatoes too. I haven't been temp to try bad stuff I don't need.

That's awesome...it's hard sometimes to not want the stuff that isn't good for you when everyone around you is eating it. Like at parties and such. I had my surgery a week before Easter nd going to the family dinner and having to drink broth was just depressing...but now I feel much better about it. I hardly ever do anything I would consider a bad choice but it's nice to know that every once in awhile I can treat myself. I too try out new foods and like you.l.sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I defiantly think this is a journey and I'm glad we have this forum to lean on each other and share our experiences. When others in my family don't know how I'm feeling...it's nice to get on here and hear from people who do.

Need advice, i am a munchier. I am in the pureed stage but I need some crunch. Any recommendations?

Rice cake is really good. I have to buy another bag. Took me like 3/4 days to eat a small bag since I can't fit much after surgery.

I'm a big crunchy fan as well. Once you get past pureed foods, you might want to try Kashi Pita crisps. 120 calories in eleven crisps and crunchy heaven! Great with salads, Soups, or even as a low calorie snack. Kellogg's Special K Cracker chips are excellent as well. Not quite as crunchy as the pita crisps but a really great substitute for potato chips and 110 calories in 27 chips. They come in a ton of flavors and I eat them any time I would have eaten chips or fries in my other life. Lol! You might enjoy nuts as well. Just about any kind of nut you can name is rich in "good" fats (mono and polyunsaturated) and they're a good source of Protein as well.

Great idea Mami! I love the Quakes Rice Snacks and they come in sweet and savory flavors! 120 to 140 calories and they are delicious!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
