Bert_n_ernie 60 Posted July 22, 2012 My surgery is Tuesday. I am scared to death. I have been psyched until today. Now for some reason I'm bordering on panic. Any words of wisdom from those who have gone before? Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using RNYTalk

barebones 28 Posted July 22, 2012 You are all in my thoughts and prayers ! 12 days ago I was in your shoes !! I take medication for anxiety/panic and it works great, but the week before my surgery I was a mess !!! You will be fine, keep telling yourself what this is going to mean for you and your loved ones!! Every time you feel that panic, take a deep breath and say, "I am fantastic and soon I will be even fantasticker!". If nothing else, it will make you smile and a smile causes relaxing !!!! Good luck to all of you !!!! 2 EEsMom and berniec reacted to this

I take Ativan only when I have a massive panic attack but they wont keep prescribing it to me Hi Krysty, I have tried a lot of things through the years and the only thing that finally helped was Zoloft, I have taken it now for over 4 years and it has changed my life
jenneliza 257 Posted July 23, 2012 It is normal and healthy to be nervous. Trust that your doctor is responsible enough not to operate on someone who is unsafe for surgery. Anesthesia also has to approve that you are safe for surgery before the fact. You will be fine! 1 EEsMom reacted to this
elvislover 14 Posted July 23, 2012 My surgery was July 11 and 3 days before I had a panic attack. I was getting out of the shower and it hit me. What helped me was knowing how worth it that this surgery is!! Hang in there! You can do it!!

Krystyneh 55 Posted July 23, 2012 My mom is also on Zoloft and she says that it helps her but when I was 16 they tried me on it (I'm now 25) and I started cutting myself so I stopped the medication. I know they say it can effect teens big time so maybe I'll try it again to see if it helps. I've tried Luvox and that helped a little bit. As a teen they kept switching me but my surgeons office said to get on some type of medication now. Thanks everyone I'm going to write down the two medications and see which my doctor would recommend 1 berniec reacted to this
