my3stars 88 Posted July 23, 2012 My surgery is Tuesday. I am scared to death. I have been psyched until today. Now for some reason I'm bordering on panic. Any words of wisdom from those who have gone before? Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using RNYTalk For myself i do not like taking meds but before my initial RNY I was so nervous that she gave me zanax for anxiety and it worked wonders, good luck and remember this too shall pass... kiwiladydee 402 Posted July 23, 2012 As soon as I arrived for the surgery the first thing they gave me was some calming drugs. It was great. I did all the paperwork for the hospital a week before.

Bert_n_ernie 60 Posted July 23, 2012 I.was on Zoloft for 9 1/2 years but about a year ago it just stopped working for me. Bert_n_ernie 60 Posted July 23, 2012 I had a LOT going on then. I was living in a bad place due to finances and then because of food poisoning my twins had to be delivered via emergency c section 2 months early. The were sent to children's hospital over an hour away & all I got to see of them before they were taken was a belly & a foot. I didn't get to see them for 3 days. Then @ 3 weeks old the twins developed NEC, which is their intestines were dieing from infection. My son almost died and I couldn't hold him because it might have caused his intestines to rupture. They were in NICU for 2 months. It is by far the hardest thing I've gone through. The bypass should be easy compared to that. Anyway, the Zoloft just couldn't quite keep up with my stress level and then I got slammed with the worst case of post partum depression I've had (i have 5 kids). All this was at same time. I think anyone would crack under that. Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using RNYTalk 1 berniec reacted to this

barebones 28 Posted July 23, 2012 You are correct. You can take something like Ativan or Xanax with another anti anxiety.

lovealways 287 Posted July 24, 2012 Hi Krysty' date=' I have tried a lot of things through the years and the only thing that finally helped was Zoloft, I have taken it now for over 4 years and it has changed my life[/quote'] I'll have to agree with you on this! I've tried about 13 different medications for anxiety and finally settled on zoloft. Been on it 2 years and like you, my life has changed!!
Katie 16 Posted July 24, 2012 Definitely keeping you in my prayers! I think I'm the only one who wasn't nervous for surgery, even the morning of surgey I kept trying to physc myself out, but I was completly calm. Has anyone noticed after surgey that the anxiety has decreased? I used to have pretty bad anxiety but I've noticed I don't have panic/anxiety attacks anymore. Been on it 2 years and like you, my life has changed!! Did any of you have any burning in your head after just taking one pill? I have some burning in my head and my whole body felt cold. The burning comes and goes but it has me worried and I didn't take one today, I took an Ativan instead because my anxiety is high today because my husband is coming home for our 2 year wedding anniversary today
SheVsMe 46 Posted July 25, 2012 I am another that suffers from panic disorder. I've been ecstatic about the surgery, and thought I was doing great with the pre-surgery anxiety. Then I started having panic attacks in my sleep. I see my psychiatrist tomorrow for a med tweak.
