I heard its common but my idea of this is ...slow and steady wins the race ! It sucks to know people around your dropping pounds like crazy but your body is just going through shock and doesn't quite know how to react!

Hang in there ! Did you have a low starting weight (as in 260 -220) ? If so, this is very common . Are you in your teens, 20, or 30? Age is also a factor . Are you getting in Protein and Water like you are supposed to ? Are you exercising ? Are you following all the rules ?

Let me know ;) I'm only 3 days post op but I kinda have an idea of what is going on !!!

Yes, I am 33 and started at 225. I follow all the rules and go to the gym 4 times a week. Which is why I am at a loss as to why my weight loss has stopped. I lost 10 lbs the first week, 5 the second and only one last week. Have had no loss at all for about 5 days now. It's just frustrating.

Just went through one and I am 3 weeks also!! May be a weird question but are you doing BMs? Everyday that plays a big part in it!! I didn't go for a week didn't lose anything finally went and 2 lbs went out lol I know TMI but it's the truth!

Well if you are going to the gym it can also be that you gained mussel and lost fat, remember that mussel is heavier than fat

I don't have BMs everyday. I guess that could be a factor too, I'm going to try drinking more Water. It can be hard to drink 48 ounces sometimes when you can only sip. I just don't know what else it could be.

I've stalled as well and I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. 259 on surgery date 7/3 2 week follow up 243 on 7/19. The scale hasn't moved since. I have been getting in my Protein but struggle with the Water intake some days.

So do I. The Water intake is my biggest downfall. I sip all day but it can be hard to get down a whole 48 ounces. I have also read that it is possible to have a stall if you don't eat enough calories. I have my 3- wk appointment on Tuesday. Hoping I can get some answers.

I know eventually we will find a balance. The last 3 days I just haven't been thirsty and forget to drink. I have been averaging around 500-700 calories a day. The nutritionalist said that's where I need to be.

I was given foods and portion guidelines but not calories. I just calculated my day and it's only 270 calories. Maybe that's my problem. Hmm...I should probably ask about that.

That's a little low but check with your dr office or nutritionalist. The amounts you should eat and how long people stay on liquids seems to vary from dr to dr. I was on Clear Liquids a week. Some people were on them for 2 weeks or longer.

How many calories do you get from Protein shakes? I tend to get 300 from Protein and 300 from food most days. Maybe you can add some protein calories?

I may try that. At my one week appointment, my nutritionist said I wasn't at the stage where I needed to worry about protein yet. So I have never had a Protein shake. I'm thinking I'm not taking enough in though. After reviewing everyone's diets.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
