We spent probably $300-400 monthly eating out and even though I've bought lots of Protein powders (still experimenting) there is definitely a savings. Can't wait to start recalculating the household budget!!

I wish they had half servings at restaurants for people who had wls because there more of us out there than people know. I want to own my own speciality restaurant for us after i graduate next year.

That's a great idea! It would be nice to have guaranteed low carb small portioned options.

I wonder if restaurants give adults a hard time for ordering children's menu? I would assume most won't let you...

I've tried ordering on the kids menu and most places won't let you

How about appetizers? I'm still on liquids so haven't gone out yet. Have you had luck finding low carb ones? The only thing that comes to mind would be like stuffed mushrooms or shrimp cocktail.

We save A TON of money not eating out. We used to do it 2 or 3 times a week. Not to mention take out lunches on work days. I'm sure that has a lot to go do with how I got so fat also!

I got one of those cards from my surgeon that says this patron has a surgically reduced stomach, please honor their request to order from the senior or children's menu but have never tried.

I'll have to see if my surgeon has those. They never mentioned it. I'm looking forward to the savings just on work lunches. I used to go get takeout every day for lunch so I could smoke. Now not smoking or getting take out. And I lease so will save a ton of miles as well :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
