I had that when I had my sleeve done....For me it was spasms. My surgeon gave me a medicine to help control them and that worked. You should call your surgeon.

I'm one week post op and I'm having the same issues. I mentioned it to my surgeon yesterday and she said its only been a week since surgery and thats quite common. I should give it some time and if it doesn't get better within the next few weeks then we'll look into it more. It really sucks. For me it's like a mix of gas and stomach cramping. I wake up fine, but as soon as a drop of liquid touches my stomach, it's just this uncomfortable pain. Ugh!

Good luck and hope yours gets better. If find a solution I'll keep you posted.

Water bothers my pouch too. It has to be freezing cold for no adverse effects. Hope you feel better!

I found this was an issue for me too. I found freezing Water bottles was the key to get in my liquids. I am almost 8 weeks out and it still is an issue, but is getting better. Oh crushing ice in a food processor or blender lets you eat the ice which felt so good, and you can buy sugar free sryups to put on the ice for a nice cold treat. I don't have issues with food just water, unless I am trying to eat it too fast then my stomach cramps. Of course too much fat or sugar will do that too, but it doesnt sound like that is your concern. My doctor said the water was because of the chemicals or taste causing the issue and having it cold removed that issue, I find it weird but ice cold works, so who am I to complain. Just glad I found a way to get in my liquids because that was worrisome for awhile.

I hope you figure it out soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
