Hi everyone, I'm 3 days post op and since I've been hope I can feel my heart beating by just sitting there. My resting heart rate is consistently above 90. Compared to my wife's which is at 42. Just wondering if I need to be concerned.

As long as you are not short of breath, having chest pain, weak or dizzy I would say there is no immediate danger. Are you having anything that is a stimulant in your diet or meds? I would call your family doctor. They will likely want you to get an EKG or a halter monitor (like a 24 hour recorded EKG you wear at home). It is definitely something not to ignore but chances are it is nothing to worry about. I wish you well.

90s is in range! Range is 60-100 so your wife on the other hand should b checked out! That's pretty low!

Agreed. The concern should not be you rate, but that you are uncomfortably feeling this. And your wife's rate is pretty low. Does she take beta blockers? Is her doctor aware of her numbers?

The only time I felt that was when I was dehydrated.

Wow i'm gonna jump on board and say that unless she is a runner or other endurance athlete a rate that slow is concerning. If she is on beta blockers its time to look at her dose! I'd be interested to know what her bp is.

anyway, I feel that way sometimes. where your sitting there and you can feel your heart beating in your head, hands, feet. Its a bounding pulse and for me its pretty normal, but i agree 100 percent with the RN (jenn) talk to your dr.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
