Frozen yogurt is loaded with sugar so is sherbert. Try the skinny cow products they taste great and low in fat/sugur and calories.

Most froyo shops have sugar free flavors. I tried coffee sf froyo the other day and loved it until two bites in I realized it probably had caffeine and stopped eating it. Ugh!

I love sherbet' date=' but when I checked the containers in the grocery store they had too much sugar. My surgeon said anything over 17g will cause dumping. Thoughts? I'd love frozen yogurt from a ice cream place, but still afraid of dumping.[/quote']

Just a thought. How about shaved ice with DaVinci sugar free syrups? Sort of like a snow cone. Also, when my kids were little I used to make homemade pudding pops and yogurt pops. Just put your favorite pudding or yogurt in a Dixie cup, stick in a Popsicle stick, and freeze. With summer approaching and ice cream on my no-no list, this is what I plan to have.

Yes check the sugar

Always check your Total Carbs. Sugar may say 5 grams but it is not total carbs

ranchbrat, your point is important. All dairy has carbs which become sugar once they hit your blood stream, so it' s not just the sugar but the carb total that matters. Most NUTs talk about total carbs, not sugar grams but carb grams.

lucky for me, I gave up all cow milk products some time ago for antiinflammatory reasons. I make a coconut milk 'ice cream' without sugar. And I take frozen banana, blend it with frozen berries for something that is a lot like ice cream. Yes, the fruit has some carbs and I won't be able to eat this in the early months post op. Half a banana and 1/4 cup frozen berries makes a very tasty sweet treat for me and frozen bananas taste a lot like ice cream to me. You can also add frozen banana or berries to Protein shakes to give them a more ice creamy texture.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
