I have been lurking around reading and enjoying all the posts. I was banded on 5/5 by Dr. Boreo in New Jersey. I have lost 38 lbs. even though I don't really feel any restriction. I had 1 fill of 2 cc. on 7/7 but still don't feel any restriction. Going back to see Dr. next week and will probably schedule me for another fill. Congratulations on putting together a great place for bandsters and future bandsters to meet.

Hi,

I also see Dr Boreo. I am in the process of getting my pre-tests done. Can you tell me about how long after the tests were finished were you scheduled for surgery, was it a long wait?

Hi old1947 chubby! Do you have another name? I don't want to call you "old"! :)

Congratulations on losing 38 lbs! Do you think the band has been helping you, even if you don't feel restriction? You've been doing *something* right, that's for sure! What's your secret?

Beth It took 6 months from psych and nutritional consult to get a surgery date. I had my insurance approval in January and was supposed to have surgery in 2 months but every time I called te office, Carmella (Dr. B's receptionist) told me I was on the list and it would probably be in 2 months. I would wait a month and call back. Well one time I called because I had found out on Bandsters site that some other people had appointments after me and they were getting their surgeries scheduled. Carmella tol me not to call again and she would call me when I was scheduled. She was very nasty. I waited and then I called back again the next month to schedule an appointment to see Dr. B. to see what the problem was with my scheduling. It just so happened that Carmella wasn't there that day and Linda took care of me and scheduled my surgery for the next available date which happened to be the following month. I hear Dr. B. is doing alot more lapbands so I hope your wait is alot shorter. Some people I've heard from only had to wait 3 months. Good luck to you.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
