I've been told by many people that post-op you are no longer hungry and have to remind yourself to eat. This is not the case for me at all, every 2 hours or so after eating i'm starving! Some people say it's head hunger but it sure doesn't feel mental since my stomach is growling like a beast inside me. I eat about 80g of.protein daily so that's not the issue. It scares me how often i feel the need to eat post op

I had my surgery July 3rd. The 1st week I wasn't hungry at all. The 2nd week I started getting hungry. That scared me. I want my surgery to be sucessful. The weight loss has been very slow for me. Only 10 lbs so far. I am up to about 60 grams of Protein so far and about 50-60 oz of fluids. I want to try to increase to 80 grams of Protein and get in more fluids. I'm hoping this will start me losing weight faster. I did start walking last week 30 minutes a day and increased to 40 minutes yesterday. My mom had her surgery 9 years ago and said she was never hungry and didn't eat more than she had to bc she wanted to lose the weight.

I like the slow past I don't want to lose weight fast & then be depress over saggy body. I'm working out also so the weight lost might decrease or be steady but I'm fine with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
