Kinderbee 0 Posted January 29, 2007 Hi Everybody! This is my first post and I'm so glad you're all here for me! I'm a 55-year-old second grade teacher in Minneapolis. I'll be meeting with my surgeon in Feb. 22 to schedule my surgery for, hopefully, early April. I'd welcome any advice about what I should be doing already to prepare--both physically and emotionally. Thanks, and I look forward to learning from YOU--the experts!
BabyGotBack 0 Posted January 29, 2007 I am by far not an expert, but may have some good advice. What helped me the most was pouring over these boards and taking notes, learning from everyone. I stocked up on what I'd need for pre op and post op diet and after surgery. Gas X strips, heating pad, liquid tylenol. Also, accepting that the band is only a tool and that I'd have to follow a healthy eating plan and exercise. I should have started exercising before the band so It would be easier now that I can start. I hope that helps!
TracyinKS 7 Posted January 29, 2007 WELCOME! Read, Read, Read! This place is awesome. All doctors are different, but the 10 main bandster rules are pretty much universal. Everyone is very different on how they eat and what they CAN eat, but we all are on the same journey.
Margi 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Hello, I also am new to this board, and I also am 55 and I also am seeing my Dr. on February 20, to set up what I hope is the band surgery at least by April. Hope we can keep in contact with this as we have some things in common!!
