It won't be easy, but hopefully we can all support and help each other. My husband eats more, smokes more and goes back and forth on his helpfulness since my surgery. I feel like I'm on a path towards health and happiness and my husband is going in the opposite direction.

I feel the same way. I'm desperately trying to get healthy and am hoping to have surgery soon (finishing up appointments this month and then submitting for insurance). My husband says that he wants to lose weight, but yet still demands I get him fast food (even though we have real, home cooked meals at the house) and will not work out with me. I understand that it's really hard to change your lifestyle and lose weight, but I feel like he's just given up on life. He has become so stubborn, and unambitious. I'm just at my wit's end and don't know what to do.

We all have been there before. I didn't get to 300lbs by working out and eating healthy he will have his Epiphany one day. Be supportive and make suggestions but remember how you felt when people would tell you how to get healthy when you weren't ready

That's great! Maybe give him a chance and things will get better. It's a step in the right direction!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
