I am almost at my 5 of 6 - pre op supervised diet. I have done nothing but gain 2-4 pounds each month......I am so discouraged and I am so afraid my insurance will deny me! I have been under a lot of stress the past couple monthes and have already started to mourn food thinking after the surgery I will never be able to eat again......any suggestions?

Stress is no joke!! I'm not sure about supervised weight loss. My Ins doesn't require it. I'm sure everything will work out for you.

Where are from Panama City Beach? I live in Pensacola, is this where you are coming for surgery? I'm actually going to Mobile. I can't wait. I have my Nut and Psych out of the way, so now I get to do my pre-op and set up my date...

Honestly I did the 6 month supervised diet and gained 15 pounds over the 6 months. Mostly because I stopped taking diet pills. I had taken the pills and weightless shots on and off for over a year. The weight gain did not stop them from approving my surgery. It's just one of the hoops that you are required to go through. I had my surgery July 3 and can already eat some soft foods. Don't get discouraged though. It will be ok. Good luck.

I had to go through 6 months of supervised weight loss for BC/BS of Alabama. It stinks! I was stressing, "What of I gain... Will they deny me?!" My surgery coordinator told me that wouldn't happen. She explained to me that the insurance company looks at the 6 months as more of a test of your sincerity than the actual weight loss. It made sense to me... People that aren't that determined aren't going to put themselves through 6 months of that crap. She told me that gaining weight wouldn't affect my chances, and that of I did lose weight I just didn't need to let my bmi drop below the qualifications (which I was in no danger of, haha). I wish you tons of luck. Hang in there... I know these are the longest 6 months of your life! It's well worth it in the end.
