first are the basics, are you talking BP medications or a beta blocker?? if not remember that its a couple of consistent blood pressures that make it high or low. BP frequently changes even by the minute and by the arm. Are you useing a home BP monitor or a store one? store ones are not a good one to rely on. they often are not calibrated. A bp less than 90 is when we start treating patients with acute conditions because less than 90 does not perfuse end organs. This being said a low bp that is truly low is usually symptomatic. have you been dizzy at all? had any LOC (loss of conciousness), Nausea anything like that? regardless of your answers you should call your dr. some energy decline is normal post surgery, any surgery due to the added stress on your body but if your feeling bad and you think you have low bp you should be consulting your physician right away.

that being said i cant stress enough that these forums are great but no advice here replaces or should be taken over a physcians. If your feeling like you should see a doctor i cant stress enough that you should. complications from surgery can = death. I would call your dr. immediatly and discuss with his PA or him/her and find out what they want you to do.

I hope you get feeling better =(

I'm 1 month post op and still have the very tired exhausted feeling. Every afternoon at work, I just want to go take a nap and when I get home from work all I want to do is sit in my recliner and doze. I asked other's I work with that have also had RNY recently and many said they experienced the same thing. I know I need more Protein, I'm having a very hard time with the taste and texture of any of the shakes, and I've tried many brands and flavors. I figured mine feelings of exhaustion are partially due to not getting enough protein. I've been told repeatedly, you've been through major surgery, your body needs time to heal and get used to it's new pouch and to just be patient. The tired feeling constantly is hard to deal with though, I do agree.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
