~Christi~ 54 Posted July 13, 2012 Has anyone taken any Water pills after RNY surgery during your period to help with the feeling of being bloated. I feel horrible. I feel like I am retaining 100 pounds of water. I just didn't know if you can take it after RNY.
TinyMamiOf3kids 1,280 Posted July 13, 2012 Actually my period sucks I'm getting that fixed soon after the 30th hopefully.
~Christi~ 54 Posted July 13, 2012 How are you getting that "fixed" because I am over this crap. I have had 3 kids ...I am done with this! I cannot take any birth control which stops your periods because the hormones in them cause blood clots in my legs.
TryingtobeSuperwoman 17 Posted July 13, 2012 My doctor took me off my Water pill 6 weeks pre-surgery and won't let me take them now. He said they can make you dehydrated and you're already fighting to stay hydrated & nourished. I took hydrochlorothiazide for lymphedema in my right foot (got a staph infection four years ago from a pedicure).
Jen in SoCal 189 Posted July 13, 2012 Believe it or not, your best bet is to drink more Water. That will help to flush all the Fluid out of your system. I'm dealing with the same issue right now from being hormonal and being on my feet for 8 hours a day.
TryingtobeSuperwoman 17 Posted July 15, 2012 Thanks Jen ~ I have noticed that since being post op (and therefor drinking lots more water) the foot doesn't get nearly as bad as it was. I was thinking my lymph system was busy sending Fluid elsewhere to help me heal as well. It's nice to finally have the foot under control. My little ones literally call it my 'Fred Flintstone foot'! Not so Flintstone post op.
