So I've Been Thinking...

Recommended Posts

And I am praying I don't have to do the 6 month diet. I'm ready for this now. I've been dieting my whole friggin life and I'd so much rather do this sooner than later. I wish August 3rd would just get here so I know what I have in store.

In case you do, a way to go around the 6 months is to speak to your primary care physician. If he/she is aware that you have been in fact dieting for so long then maybe they would be willing to vouch for you.

I wonder if that would work. Because I've been there several times over the past several months and she def knows my struggles and seen my attempts at weight loss. Great idea, thanks!

Please let me know if that works for you. My daughter has Tricare and is going to have her band revised to a bypass. She has menu plans from the last 6 months and show that we have tracked her nutrition. I would hate for her to have to wait the 6 months!

They should have a form for you to fill out as well saying what diet plans you have tried and when as well as loss and gain. At least my hospital had me do that to prove what I had been doing. Also when you talk to your physician about weight it's dictated that you talked about it.

Might be a prob if they want meal plans, nutritionist visits, dr weigh ins etc.

Same here, the reason some insurances require the 6 mo plan is to weed out the people who are trying to do this because they think it is the easy way out, and have never tried to lose before. IF there is a paper trail of your attempts then 9/10 they will not require the 6 mo.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
