Question for all

I am sure we all now where we should be on the BMI chart.

According to my initial consult with the surgeon the other day he believes what I could accomplish is weighting 150

where I was thinking 140 at a 5'3 frame, he said that 140 was very ambishish ? :-/

Question the is what is everyones in between range where they should be and then where do you want to be?

or think is actually attainable

He said it was ambitious, not impossible, If that's where you want to be work hard, set your mind to it and you can do it. Who knows, maybe you'll hit a weight and you'll want to stay there, even if it isn't at your goal, I've noticed a lot of post op people saying that.

My Dr asked me what I weighed in high school, which was 124-132, for my height 5'2" I should be between, if I remember correctly, 109-119. He asked me my goal, to which I answered 130 and he said "we will start there". So he never gave me his number but apparently wasn't to off of my number. I calculated it out, at 232 now, to loose 102#s, I would be taking the equivalent of my 6 + 4 year olds. Looking at it in that perspective, makes me sick.

My surgeon is mike Schmidt. He used to teach the procedure and worked for a company that tought the rny procedure. I open with that because he is an amazing guy and knows his stuff. He told me day 1 that I will know when enough is enough. He said that just because a chart says my ideal weight is 170 doesn't mean that I will be ok at that weight. He said he is 12 pounds over his ideal weight but when he lost that 12 and was at his ideal weight he felt horrible.

His advise was to listen to your body he does not like people to set number goals but rather an idea for how much you want to lose and go from there.

I think that as you lose the weight your going to find a weight that works for your body. A weight where you feel good and have energy and are enjoying life. If that is lower than the weight your doc says is good great for you! If it is not the number you set in your head don't get down on yourself as long as you feel good and are healthy!
