jenneliza 257 Posted July 9, 2012 I have to be at the hospital at 9am tomorrow for 11:00 surgery! I can't think of anything else and the nerves are starting to kick in. I'm not worried about the lifestyle changes, but about surgery, anesthesia, etc. Not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight! 1 ladyspl reacted to this
Lolipop86 9 Posted July 9, 2012 I wish u the best:) This thursday I will be 3 weeks post op! surgery and anesthesia were fine its more the gas pain that is uncomfortable. Walk as soon as you are able to tolerate it even if its a few steps or even feet. BEing on the operating table for so long may cause you to have horrible lower back pain. Dont be afraid to ask for pain meds! warm heated blankets on my back helped out A LOT!
nickyvolzz 17 Posted July 9, 2012 I know huh the nerves will drive me nuts too when it's my day at the hospital. Just try to relax. A good relaxing breathing technique that I learned somewhere is called 567 breathing. It's where you breath in for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 6 seconds and exhale for 7 seconds. You just kinda count silently in your mind. But anyways, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! :-) 1 jenneliza reacted to this

I'm not worried about the lifestyle changes, but about surgery, anesthesia, etc. Not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight! Or go back to the medicine. You know the chances of complications, the issues associated with anethesia, the post op complications and the risk vs reward of this procedure. I don't know if your like me but if you are, just ask to be informed. know your lab values, ask what your d-dimer is etc. Knowing the medicine can be a blessing in that you really do know if everything is going ok. course the flip side is, if its not, you will know too. Knowing the complications you also know how to prevent most of them right? Walk, Insp. spirometer etc. You know what to do to decrease the chances of complications. If you need someone to talk to PM me. I work 24's so whenever. =) You will do great though!! I can feel it! 1 jenneliza reacted to this

princessL 10 Posted July 10, 2012 I remember the night before my surgery like it was yesterday. I was so nervous up until I was rolled into pre-op. I just kept thinking about all of the health benefits, that I would live longer and be here longer for my daughter and about the incredible shrinking woman I would become. You've done all of your homework and you've chosen one of the best surgeons. =) We will all be thinking of you and sending lots of prayers. We wish you a speedy recovery. Trust me, it's totally worth it!! 1 jenneliza reacted to this
