I am so happy for all you guys and i wish my girl could think like you and try do something about her weight. I don't know how to make her understand that she need to loose weight without hurting her. All she want is me telling how beautiful she is, how sexy she is and stuff like that . Asking me every time when she wear something if it doesnt make her look fat or if this clothes doesnt show her stomach. All i want is her to take the decision herself. But she doesn't care. She just want me to love her like that or she will find someone to do it. I love her tho but not her body

You should love her body because that's a part of who she is. Love is much deeper than outside appearances. She should find someone new then in that case because you are wanting her to lose weight for you. If she is unhealthy she should lose weight for HER HEALTH. Not for your eyes. But anyways if you really love her for her spirit you will stay with her " thru thick and thin" be ways no hard feelings just sayin. :-)

I know what you talking about! But iam a way worrying about her health than any things else. She's like 249lbs right now, maybe she's healthy but not healthy looking at all. And iam worry about after we have a baby. That will make her take some more weight. You said to love her body while she doesn't even like it. I always wonder why? If you don't like yourself why would you expect someone to like it. And why don't she wanna look great, not for me but for herself. I could find someone good looking or what ever but choose to be with her because she's different, very lovely. I love her

I know she in her heart of hearts wishes she could be thin. I know she doesn't like the way she looks right now either. Why do I know? Cause I feel that way too. She may still think she is going to be able to lose the weight through diet and exercise, so she might not be ready to make the drastic choice of getting surgery.

For me I finally got to the point that I said enough is enough. I can't do this on my own I need help. My doctor said to me, "you got to lose weight." I said "I know I've been trying." He says "but you've been gaining" and I said "I know! " he said "right now you are healthy, no diabetes or anything BUT in ten years I GUARANTEE you won't be. That's what made it clear to me that surgery is what I have to do. I've been overweight my entire life, well since elementary anyways. I'm almost 28 so 10 adult years I've been trying to lose and have only gained.

She has a disease. Obesity is a disease. It isn't that she has a character defect or a lack of will power. There are a lot of things going on in her body that causes her to eat too much and it isn't her fault.

I like to think of it like this; being on a diet is like holding my breath. Eventually I can't hold my breath anymore and I breathe. I have to breathe a lot to catch up too. That what dieting is like for me. It's like my body doesn't want to lose weight. It wants to catch back up too where it was initially and then add so more incase anything like that ever happens again!

I hope your girl will beat this disease. It will benefit her in so many ways she probably can't even imagin. I too look forward to the day when I can say I beat obesity too.

Best Wishes,

Nicole

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
