Big Lou 42 Posted September 12, 2012 I was approved after 3 days and I actually waited a month to lose more weight . I had two consults with my surgeon and then his coordinator set my date
kisersassy 369 Posted September 12, 2012 I am just trying to get my head around all this and what to expect. I saw the surgeon I'm July and he said after my psych evaluation on October 3rd they would hurry and get things done. I saw the nurse practioner last month and at that appointment they went ahead and scheduled for me to see the surgeon on October 23 for final appointment. I will see the NP again September 24. So I was just curious how things work

NatalieO 19 Posted September 17, 2012 That's great to know! I have bcbs il and my info' date=' was submitted Thursday. Gonna call them tomorrow and follow up.[/quote'] I have BCBS too. The approval request letter was sent on 9/10 and on 9/14 I received a call from the bariatric center that the surgery was approved. I was amazed! And happy! I hope everyone's insurance approval goes smoothly!!
kisersassy 369 Posted September 17, 2012 Ok I have a stupid question. Ok so bcbs requirements are6 months right? So they counted April as my first appointment so April may June July August September makes 6 months right? Makes 6 weigh ins. Right?
kisersassy 369 Posted September 17, 2012 I am just really praying that I am misunderstanding and mu surgery will be in October after my psych evaluation on the 3rd which is done at the weight loss center and they are doing it as an all day appointment instead of 2 or 3 appointments

So they counted April as my first appointment so April may June July August September makes 6 months right? Makes 6 weigh ins. Right? It depends on your policy. Mine did not require any pre op diet. Info was sent in last thurs, called today and they said they were missing the psych Eval and letter from the surgeon stating that I was educated on post op procedures, so I had to call my surgeon again today and have them resubmit that info. Hoping it goes quickly now...
sunshine413 343 Posted September 18, 2012 I too have Blue Cross...they told me today they needed old medical records...btw, I sent them to my surgeon's office. The customer service rep was super nice...she said she had bariatric surgery in February and reassured me that bcbs is quick to approve surgery bc they understand it's better in the long run! Fingers still crossed!!!

Jordan Bee 13 Posted September 18, 2012 Ok I have a stupid question. Ok so bcbs requirements are6 months right? So they counted April as my first appointment so April may June July August September makes 6 months right? Makes 6 weigh ins. Right? It depends what kind of BCBS you have. I have BCBS federal and they only had a 3 month requirement. The also required records from the past 2 years stating my weight and weight related issues such as infertility and sleep apnea. They also required a psych eval and nutritionist counseling. Everything is done and just awaiting the recommendation letter from the PCP and then we submit. Hopefully this week!!
