atcgoddess1 37 Posted July 7, 2012 In about a week you should feel up to all of those things. I started cooking the day after surgery. Just be really careful about lifting things...laundry is heavy!
Mrs.D 39 Posted July 7, 2012 I made dinner the day after I came home...went to the grocery store about 3 days after coming home....I have teens so luckily I didn't have to do dishes. Just rest and nap as much as you can the first week:)
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted July 7, 2012 I say great time to teach the kids how to do laundry and make sandwiches. I can bet they'd love to help. Well depending on their ages that is Otherwise I wouldn't recommend picking up laundry. I believe we're not suppose to pick up anything over 10 pounds or so for the first few weeks. Give your surgeon a call to see what their limits are.
jenneliza 257 Posted July 7, 2012 My boy is 8 and daughter is 11 so hopefully they will be helpful! 1 Mrs.D reacted to this

Candi_83 10 Posted July 11, 2012 I made up casseroles and bags of crock pot meals and put them in the freezer. Its easy to pop out and through it in the ovrn it crock Pot. I'm 13 days post op and yesterday was the first day I really felt like doing anything. I have a 6 and 11 yr old. They have been a big help. I gave them a list of daily chores and they have been great with it. We just got a new puppy too so they have been puppy sitting also. You will be surprised how much your kids step up with this. You will be a proud momma and be able to get the rest you need.
Rhon 7 Posted July 11, 2012 Remember you need to walk alot after surgery. So you want to be moving. You do not want blood clots. Also if you get gas you want to move inorder to release it. Best of all just do as the doctor says and you will be fine. I took off a month just so that I was on pureed foods when I got back to work. It made lunch time easier on me. jldeville 61 Posted July 13, 2012 I was told no vacuuming for 6 weeks. That was the only housework restriction. I'm two weeks post op and my mom wouldn't let me do laundry. She was scared of all the bending and the basket being too heavy.
