Protein/food/enough Calories

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm doing good as far as keeping food down, but I have some exception if I drink too much Water at once or don't chew well I will vomit, but besides that I'm doing just fine.

I'm not getting the 50grams of Protein per day as written in the sheet the surgeon gave me. In fact I can't stand the protein from Atkins mocha latte which I was loving before surgery. Can someone tell me what can I do to get my protein intake?

I'm only able to eat 2-4 bites at a time, and I don't eat all day long. I eat because I have to live, but other then that if I eat once a day I'm good, but I try to eat at least 3-4 times a day since it's just a small amount I can eat. According to the sheet I'm suppose to consume 800-1000 calories per day which I'm far less then that. If I eat 300 calories or less that's all I can get in.

You tell me how your doing with your protein/vitamin & calories intake. I don't know what to do.

I'm looking forward to abdominal excercise after July 30th. According to my sheet here.

unjury chicken broth was a lifesaver for me. 8 ounces of Soup = 21g of Protein. You have to order it at unjury.com. Good luck!

I'm gonna check it out. Thanks

I drink a 30g Protein Shake first thing in the am, one after lunch, and try for at least 1/2 a shake after dinner...totaling around 75g...as my dr recommends 60-90g. Plus cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are great sources of Protein. The shake I drink are from Premiere nutrition I also alternate w Unjury...which gives 20g of

Protein in 6 oz.:)

Your doing way better then me. I can't stand the shakes, but I will look for food or other drinks besides shakes with protein. In about 2 weeks or so I should have money to order the Soup from unjury.com

I have been on Isopure Low Carb Dutch Cholocate. I mix it with skim milk, its not my fav. drink but I do drink it. My dr. requires a minimum of 64 grams of protien a day. I eat yogurt and cottage cheese for Breakfast, Protein Shake for a snack between breakfast and lunch. Any other Protein is a bonus. I do drink the Special K protein Water packets too. I know the shakes are nasty.. I just drink them as quick as I can without getting sick and just be done with it - LOL. Check out the protein flavor packetts you put in water by Specail K I think they are like 5 grms of protein per packett ... the strawberry/kiwi is pretty tasty :) You really need your protein... you don't want to loose your hair. My hair is thin to begin with so I am real strict on getting my protein in each day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
