Mushie Food Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok I am almost 3 weeks post op, I had my RNY by pass on 6/13 and I am having a terrible time finding things that dont make me nauseous. Does anyone have any ideas? What does everyone eat at this stage. I had no problem on liquids, infact i could down the Jello, puddings, and liquids no problem but it seems that as soon as there is some kind of consistance i get nauseous. Please let me know what you were eating at this stage considering I have 6 more weeks of this!!

All help will be appreciated!!!

I would stay away from the potatoes. They are all sugar. Try some things like chili or vegetable Soup an purée it a little. I am two weeks out and my dr told me to start trying thinned oatmeal, eggs (a little undercooked), chillin blended up, yogurt with fruit, half a banana, ff refrained Beans. Pick one and thin it out with slim milk or broth. Then slowly start making a little thicker. That might help with the nausea. I am having a hard time wanting I eat. I have to make myself eat at specific times or I find that I've gone all day and hasn't eaten.

I would also stay away from the potatoes... Am on my 4th wk post op. i tried them twice and got terribly sick and nauseous!

On my past week I could only hold down an 1oz of the carnaion instant Breakfast?!?! And water!

I ate squash... When i craved something salty, i roasted garlic in a bit of olive oil... Then put in the squash ad cooked it... Then pureed. Never had the pureed eggs. Hate eggs. Maybe you can have scrambled eggs...?!?

I'm mt sure if you have a panera bread, but i ate their frenh onion Soup. Its low in calories and delish!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
