Margi 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi all, I am new here, researching to see if the lap-band surgery is for me. Wondering if I am maybe too old, if having it done at this age would create more complications than a younger person. Anyone know?
slenderella 7 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi, I am 55, had band put in at age 52, no problems, would not change a thing. Go for it! Nancy
marjon9 6 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi Mattie, I'm 53, banded 10 days ago. You are not too old. Click on this link to another thread on this forum, I think you will get some good information: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/weight-loss-people-t21117.html
GayleTX 1 Posted January 27, 2007 There was a thread just recently about this subject.....wish I could find it for you....there were lots of great replies. I was banded at 61 going on 80....terrible health, terrible physical condition, using a walker part of the time, handicapped and pretty well useless. I figured I had nothing to lose but weight. Now.....less than a year later, I am 62 going on 63 - I've lost 110 lbs and I have my life back. I am healthier and happier than I've been in many years. I still have a lot to lose but if I don't lose another pound it has all been worth it. I not only have a life now.....I also have a future and I didn't have much of one before. :clap2: Don't let age stand in your way!!
Northernsun 4 Posted January 27, 2007 Not only are you not too old, you will feel so much younger after you get the band and loose the weight. I am 54 have been banded for a yr and would do it again in a heart beat. Other then the obvious weight loss, the most important thing for me was regaining my joy of life. I lost that somewhere and forgot just how much fun life can be!
Trish2U 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi Mattie, I am researching getting banded, too. I am 64 and pretty sure I am going to have it done. I am reading everything I can on it. Trish2u
megret 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi all, I am new here, researching to see if the lap-band surgery is for me. Wondering if I am maybe too old, if having it done at this age would create more complications than a younger person. Anyone know? Hello! I am 54 and I have a date scheduled for Mexico in another week and a half. Can't wait!!! Go for it! :clap2: :clap2: Megret
PeaCeJ 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Go for it! I am 53 and was banded 1/15. Everyone says I am just like my mother and she is 84 and going strong. I do not want to spend 31+ years on the sideline watching the world pass me by. I want to play with my grandchildren without running out of breath or stopping because my back or knees are killing me. Life is not over at 50. If we play it right, it is just beginning. Haven't you heard - 50 is the new 30!
Tres Chic 0 Posted January 27, 2007 I'll be 54 a week after my surgery, which is coming up on Feb 1 !!!
Woodys 0 Posted January 28, 2007 I am 55 and went through this with a breeze. I wish I could have done this sooner but I will be 56 in Sept and if I had to do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. Outside of marrying my husband, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I do not feel my age, I feel like a kid again....it has opened up a whole new world for me. wootsie73 0 Posted January 28, 2007 Hi Mattie, I am 50 right now and will be 51 on February 1st. I'm not banded yet, but I've seen my surgeon and am getting there on setting a surgery date! I've spent the past 25 years not dating or enjoying life at all. I'm looking forward to getting healthy and possibly finding someone to share my life with. I can't wait for the new me! NowNotSoBigGuy 0 Posted January 29, 2007 By all means, don't let age be a consideration. You'll be amazed at the improvement after you're banded.
