Bandlam 0 Posted January 27, 2007 I'm very new to this pre LapBand Surgery method ordeal. I decided that I just can't lose the weight through diet and exercise alone. I've tried everything from A to Z and nothing worked longterm. I was told that I have to go on a Doctor supervised weightloss diet for 6 months before I can be referred to a Bariatric Consultant. I may not have the surgery until the end of the year or longer. Why does it take so long especially when your health is at risk if you gain more weight? :bored
lmd 0 Posted February 18, 2007 I was self pay, so glad I was able to do this. I had a BMI of 38 so I really didn't have to do any diet before hand. This is what I call the real "bandster hell." It really irritates me. Why are we having the band? Because we have a problem with losing weight, duh? A friend of mine requested diet pills to help her with this phase. They worked and she is doing well with her band. The doctors etc. who make you do this don't have any weight issues. They just do not understand what we go thru. As far as shrinking the liver, new studies show that this is not really the case. Also the rhetoric about seeing if you can follow a plan so the band will work for you is also utter crap. The band makes it easy to follow the rules. I amk a complete success with my band and have maintained my goal weight for 6 months, size 4-6. I never would have been able to follow a 6 months diet before the band. I could do it now. Good luck to you, I know it is not easy. You have my utmost support.
