I used to dread shopping, I still hold some of that go back for a bigger six fear. But soon I'll have no choice as everything I have is falling off... Lol

My eyes popped when I found a large was sliding off! I'm two months out and down 60 lbs! I know this sounds silly, but I can't get over how tiny my wrists have gotten! Funny part is, I know my ex husband is kicking himself now. I just hope I can enjoy shopping once again. Too many years of hating it. And I always grab things way too big. It's like when you cut your hair, and take a shower. You always end up with Shampoo sliding down your face because you're used to having long hair. It's all a huge adjustment. And as for swimwear, I think I could be 110 and still scared out of my mind to try doing that again. Sad thing is, I'm a huge fan of swimming as I used to be a lifeguard and an even bigger fan of rollerblading. I'm bouncing back with no extra skin, but old fears and mindsets are going to take a long time to fix.

I'm 3days out now. But before the surgery' date=' I bought a few pieces that looked great and I had to have. Lol. Since I work at a clothing store part time, I won't be spending a lot.[/quote']

How are you feeling? I am (as I type this) sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called back for my EGD. I am getting nervous about the post op pain of when it comes time for the actual surgery and recoop time. Any comments?

I know what you mean! I am only 2 1/2 months out from surgery and am down 57 lbs. I figured now that I'm 5 sizes smaller I'll love to shop too. But for some reason I keep going to the larger sizes not believing I can fit into the smaller sizes. So I know for sure that it's going to take me some time to adjust.

Way to go on your loss! Hopefully our brains will catch up with our bodies soon!

Response to Landensmommy10

Despite 3 calls to my insurance company asking for the requirements for WLS, they still did not give me the correct answer. So after meeting with the insurance coordinator Wed, I was smart to start the 6 month pcp diet 2 months ago, and actually had my 3rd weigh in on Thur, so thats a bonus. Since Dr is in Pittsburgh and I am in Erie (2.5 hour drive) Dr said its ok to have my Pulm, Card, sleep testing and bloodwork done in Erie. I called to make those appointments and they require (not my insurance) me to get referrals from my Dr. Called surgeons office back, they told me the referral has to come from my PCP, now what sense does that make? GRRRR, but I called PCP and they will make the appointments for me, thank goodness. So all is going great. Looking like Nov/Dec-ish for the surgery, which I think is perfect. I have only told the mother in law and 1 BFF, so everyone else will get the "It's my new years diet" story. LOL

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
