The funny part about this all was that last summer he lost 75 pounds' date=' on his own working out all the time, the whole time I was supportive, told him he looked awesome, mean while I was going through all my stuff to get ready for surgery. Even my co workers and clients give me compliments ..Even on New Years I asked him to take me dance...yep that never happened......I dont know understand why he would want to push me away, I'm not going anywhere.....[/quote']

I see. He perceives that you took the easy way out on weight loss while he had to "work" for it. We all know that there's nothing easy with our weight loss! He resents you having your surgery. He also doesn't want to have to share the spotlight of extreme weight loss with your friends.

Hey, I just found this Man Room. I thought this forum was just about all women. I really need to start scrolling further more often. My name is Tim and I'm here for the same reasons I see over and over. I'm 50 with a BMI of 40.2, Diabetes (4 pills and two different insulins 4 times a day), arthritis joint pain from multiple broken bones and surgeries since High School (both knees, both shoulders, both feet, lower back and hand), sleep apnea that keeps me from getting any good sleep, and ulcers and a Hiatal Hernia that give me acid reflux. I've got a great wife and two beautiful daughters and I would like to be around (and healthy) for as long as possible.

I just had my Gastric Bypass on Wednesday January 16th, 2013 and I feel pretty good already. I've been out of the Hospital for four days now and start the Stage 2 liquid diet on Monday. The weird thing is that I haven't been hungry yet. Two and a half days of crushed ice at the hospital; I used to just think of it as watering down my gin, but now, I like crushed ice! My energy is good, I think because I've been taking in a lot of Protein (60+ grams a day) since Friday, and I've started walking (shuffling) around the neighborhood a couple of times a day. There is some pretty good surgical pain if the meds start to wear off, so don't let it. When it hurts more, I tend to sleep more and that doesn't help. I am very excited that tomorrow I get pudding (Yea, pudding!).

I'll keep posting results and experiences now that I've found you guys. I hope that will encourage and/or help those that are coming up on your surgery dates. It's been very helpful to me reading some of the posts here (crap there are a LOT of posts!) and I plan to read all of them. Good luck with your surgeries and going forward from there into a new, healthier life.

Tim

RNY 8/24/09

Pre surgery 440lbs

Today 198

I lost the equivalent of two cheerleaders lol. Stay diligent Tim. High Protein is key or your body will consume its muscle to sustain vital operations. I went 120 days on the first stage of the diet after surgery due to a GI bleed a few weeks after my RNY. THIS WAS DUE TO EATING A PIECE OF CHICKEN! The system is delicate take your time.

The reason I went 120 days on liquid diet was because loosing 2 units of blood had a profound physiological effect on me to the point where I was afraid to even eat pudding lol.

Good luck stay positive and ask questions no matter how silly they may sound in your head.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
