jennw 3 Posted June 26, 2012 Hello everyone, my name is Jennifer I am a 34 year old mother of 3. I had my surgery on 6/13 and was out of the hospital on 6/15. My starting weight was 304 this was before starting the Optifast, has anyone else experienced optifast 2 wks before their surgery? I have my 2wk follow up on 6/28 and cant wait to get graduated to mushies! I am sick of liquids and I often find myself hungry alot. Is this normal? I thought I was not suppose to experience hunger. I am having a lot of pain on my left side and at times it is unbearable, is anyone else experiencing this? Please let me know that I am not the only one with these issues. Ocean0527 23 Posted June 26, 2012 Hi Jenn. I am 30, and had my surgery 6/5/12. I am also finding myself hungry all the time. My post op appointment is this Wednesday and I am hoping and praying the doctor is going to give me instructions to fix this. I was told I would have to force myself to consume anything and that I would not feel hungry.I was wondering what is wrong with me. Ocean0527 23 Posted June 28, 2012 Hi Jennw. Saw my surgeon today. Discussed the hungry issue with him. He asked several questions about my diet and we discovered that I am not consuming nearly enough calories. He said I should be at 800 per day and I am barely at 200 at this time. I am now three Weeks out and I can start introducing real foods slowly. He said eat 5 small meals each day and make sure I drink 8 Oz each hour. I'm so excited to have realfood!
