Large Lump On Left Side

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone else had a large lump on the left side. They checked it in the hospital and said it looks like a large hematoma. Well today is 5 days post-op and it still hurts and it's still large. Could they have cracked a rib? Is this normal? Just wondering if I should worry.

Hi. I have not heard of that. Gallbladder is on the left side. Did they take xrays? I hope they are trying to find out what it is.

Your gall bladder is actually on your right side(had mine removed a long time ago). If you had laprascopic surgery the left side is where the camera and light are inserted so it could be they just hit some tissue and it's bruised and inflamed. If it hurts though I would definitely call your surgeon's office. Better safe than sorry.

That's exactly what mine is. Large and hard and below it it's sunk in. So thankful that I'm not alone. Thanks so much. I'm calling tomorrow anyway but this makes me feel better.

I'm doing great with gas. Walking really helps with that. And small spits of a bowel movement. I feel good other than the lump.

I had a large lump on my left side and it was just from them putting in the camera and stuff it was basically like a tightened muscle that was stuck kinda like a Charlie horse but without that horrible pain!

Your gallbladder is in the right side near the liver.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
