Mami.....it may be a little too soon to be having rice and crackers are a slider food. Both are carbs. I know everyone's surgeon is different but the rice is something that can get caught in your internal incision sites

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

Hi my surgeon told me I can eat everything. I have no limits. I used to have very low Iron so I think it's one of the reason why he doesn't want to limit me. Yes your right about the rice. I only ate it once, and it went down good. Everything else is a pain to keep down. I don't know why. I'm laying off the rice for a few months. Nothing wants to stay. I try the smallest piece of pork up it went. Everything is difficult. I don't want to quit but I'll try crackers & see how that goes.

That's the same way my program works Joanna. It works really well I think because when you go to the next stage your pouch is ready for the change. I am 26 days post of and now eating soft foods like ground turkey in Tomato sauce w/ spices and of cheese.; egg white scrambles w/turkey bacon and cheese etc. imam eating 1/4 cup 3 meals per day and Protein Drinks as Snacks.< /p>

I would try a few small spoon fulls. I would also use a baby spoon.

I too wonder why surgeons have such different time tables for the food. When I had my VSG my surgeon had me on Clear liquids for 2 days then he said it was ok to eat pureed food on the 3rd!! My stomach didnt like that so much.

My new surgeon will have me on a clear liquid/protein drink diet for 2 weeks after surgery.

Go with your gut, LITERALLY! lol Eat according to how the food makes you feel. Everyone is different and heals differently your tummy just isn't ready. And if you are worried about getting the Protein, try adding unflavored Protein powder in your food.

GNC sell one online that you can actually cook with called anywhey.

I had my surgery on 6/7, while in the hospital I was on Clear Liquids, then wen I came home went to puréed food, yogurts, pudding, Soups etc, then @ 10 days I went to soft moist foods, eggs, cottage cheese, well cooked fish like shrimp and salamon. I'm almost 3 weeks out and doing well, my only problem is horrible gas, I burp constantly. When I'm like this I can't eat, it makes me sick. Havent had it happen a lot but the few times it does is enough! I also find it hard to find things to eat, I get bored with the same thing. Any websites anyone recommends for new recipes?

I burp like crazy also. I don't knw what from. And the gas comes from the high amount of Protein we take in.

I agree with several others - sometimes you just have to listen to your body. And know that it may not say the same thing about the same food all of the time. In your situation mami, I'd suggest that you continue trying as much variety as you can and see what your body has to say about it. Also keep in mind that you'll want to revisit any foods that didn't work the first couple of times. You're not quite 30 days out and that's not a long time for the healing process. I'm betting that you'll eventually be able to eat pretty much anything you want!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
