hajones5891 133 Posted June 22, 2012 Anyone have this done? My doctor is recommending I look into this instead of rny. ......any thoughts?
KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted June 22, 2012 My ex friend had that done....biggest mistake she still regrets it and her surgery was April 17th! She can't eat but a bite here and there and throws up all the time! She already has had an endoscopy and found out she's got gastritis which is the beginning of an ulcer! I watched her everyday struggle to eat the littlest thing.....after seeing what she's gone through I'm glad I had RNY instead of sleeve! BBdoodle 483 Posted June 22, 2012 Ther reason why I went with the RNY is because you loose the most weight with RNY procedure, which is much more than the sleeve or the banding. I wanted the best bang for my buck !!!
hajones5891 133 Posted June 22, 2012 I hear ya.....just want to explore all my options before I makes such a life changing decision!
babygirl901 173 Posted June 22, 2012 I considered it, but RNY is better for my comorbidities.
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted June 22, 2012 RNY was the best option for me as well but...there may be specific reasons for your doctor recommending the sleeve that we obviously know nothing about. If you're not comfortable with his/her recommendation, you might want to consider getting a second opinion from another doctor. You also might want to check out Alex's sleeve forum (the same guy that runs this forum) at http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/. There's also a lot of info on the Net comparing the advantages and disadvantages of both surgeries. Congratulations on your decision to move forward!! hajones5891 133 Posted June 23, 2012 My PCP is the one that mentioned the sleeve, he said he had done some research on it and prefered it to RNY because there was less malapsorbtion issues. I havnt talked to my surgeon yet, I will meet with him next month and see what he has to say. They say there is less dumping with the sleeve but in some sick way I think I may need something like dumping to scare me from eating things i know i shouldnt! Keeping my options open and I will let you all know what my surgeon says! Thanks for all the comments btw!
